Gill had generously agreed to drive, and as her car takes five people, we arranged that Jill and I would walk down to her house, and we would pick up Jean further down the mountain, and Virginia in Beniarbeig. As Alma was unfortunately unwell on the day; Wendy was attending a 'surprise' birthday party in her own honour; Doreen had a prior engagement; and Fina was in Paris, the five of us were it!
We parked by the harbour and walked up the calle Marques de Campo to the Tasca Eulalia, where there were two spare tables and some umbrellas, so we stopped there. They had a very appetising three-page-long menu of tapas, and we were all more than ready for something to eat, it being after 3pm by then. We ordered several different items, all of which were very tasty, and shared them between us, along with some bottles of the house wine. A little while later Jean asked the young man at the next table if he would take a photo of us with her camera and he kindly obliged. It came out rather well!
We chatted until about 5pm when we had a round of coffees and made our way back to the car. We had received a few comments from passers-by during the afternoon, such as 'ĦHey, guapas!' and 'ĦQue elegante!', but Jill started a conversation with an older Spanish gentleman and his dog on the way back, and he was more interested in what our husbands were doing while we were out, than in what we might be up to!
We had all enjoyed ourselves and are looking forward to arranging our next outing.
