Peter

This is Renaissance Man we are talking about here!

Peter has previously done courses in photography and used to 'do' weddings in the past. Wouldn't it be interesting if any of his previous customers read this and got in touch? He has now acquired a fancy digital camera and the lenses and filters to go with it. He has also done a workshop at the Javea Art Centre on Digital Photography and is hoping to do a course, if it becomes available.  Many of the photos on this site are his handiwork, and he is also coming to grips with his latest version of the Microsoft Image Suite for editing said photos.

Last year he joined a Silver Jewellery course at the Art Centre and made some lovely pieces.  I have a beautiful pendant made using an actual leaf, and he also made presents for various relatives, including his mother and his granddaughters. Unfortunately, the materials are very expensive and he feels that he cannot justify continuing on a regular basis.

For some years now he has done woodturning, and we have some lovely bowls and candlesticks—and so do friends and relations!  I bought him his first (secondhand) lathe as a birthday present after he had done a course with a local teacher, and we bought two new ones—a large one and a small one—after visiting an annual fair in the Chard area of Somerset. I did a weekend course with Tony Witham in Colchester and we both joined the Colchester Woodturning Club. They had some interesting talks and demonstrations, and we still have a lovely Christmas Tree ornament turned by the famous Chris Stott at one of the meetings. There wasn't time for much here in the first year or so, partly because the garage was not properly set up for a long while.  However, it is now more or less straight, and he has spent some time practising, so the production line should be rolling again—time permitting.

Following the Art Exhibition of the Javea Art Centre at Easter 2005 he has been smitten afresh with the beauty of pen and wash, and joined one of Ted's watercolour classes at the Art Centre at the end of April.  He is finding it interesting and frustrating, as everybody does at first, but he is being very good and doing his homework. He sent his first ever watercolour to his mother, who has done a lot of painting in her time, and she was very touched at the thought, and is showing it to everybody she sees—so he is exhibited, already!
