Karen's Art Class at the Javea Art Centre was recreated as the MI Group, originally standing for Mixed Imaginations, as preparations were proceeding for an exhibition at the Casa de Cultura in Teulada. The theme for the exhibition was 'The Seashore' and it covered the period from 18 October to 9 November 2007.
It took more than a year for discussions to come to fruition and for the exhibition actually to be presented. It received a lot of praise locally and was widely regarded as a most professional venture. Karen is to be congratulated for all the work she put in, not only in teaching and encouraging the Group, but also in making sure that the exhibition itself did not suffer from any hint of 'amateurism'. Various members within the Group helped with preparation, press releases, marketing, and the food and drink for the opening night.
After the success of the exhibition it was decided that the Group would become independent, leaving the Art Centre premises and basing itself at Karen's house from January 2008. Karen is talking to other local venues with a view to preparing another exhibition in the not-too-far-distant future.
